Build a well

in In my home (includes DIY) MoneySaving
Hi chaps/chapesses,

I have a well that is just covered over with a flagstone.
I want to build a well cover above it - any suggestions ideas as to what style to go with? Just looking for different ideas really - pictures would be good :D I'm not adversed to anything - Classic, contemporary, outlandish etc etc..

    We found the same situation at our 'new' (1910) house. We just built up from ground level to about 30" in double-course brick, including a strong safety grill about 2 feet down from the top, and use it as a big garden ornament-come-seat. If you get the diameter right then you can cap it off with a ring of slabs of the type used to construct circular patio areas.

    I'm interested in this too, as I have a capped off well. I am thinking of putting in a cast iron handpump nearby, but I would like to make something of the well itself.
