Pbs with Adobe Flash Player 10 - Advice pls

Bear with me... it's prob sthg easy to do but I can't work it out
I have a few months old Toshiba with windows 7 on 64bit. I need an update on Flash player for surveys and various things but i downloaded it several times now and it doesn't upgrade...It says download successful but i still can't find it...HELP please it's driving me nuts...I don't really want/know how to go down 32-bit etc...
I saw a mention of Chrome... I've only ever used IE... can they both be used etc...?
Any advice much appreciated. thanks as always

Try using firefox ~
http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/

then USING firefox download and install the latest flash ~

and if it still doesn't work
uninstall Flash http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html and then install

thanks a lot to you both. I have done as you suggested. uninstalled, downloaded Firefox and download flash while in Firefox....but now how do i run it? as i tried to open one survey and it still tells me i need Flash...sorry if it's obvious....

Goto TOOLS and DOWNLOADS and double click the flash download

Then shut down firefox then continue to install flash
