Credit Card Organising Help Please!!!!

Options
Hi, wasn't sure whether or not to post this on DFW or on here, but it is specific to CC's so hopefully this is the right place.

Both me and my husband have the following credit card balances, and are now in a situation were we want to stop spending and just pay them all off once and for all!!!

These are the balances:

Me

Sainsburys Visa - £461.53 @ 15.94%
American Express - £2731.64 @ 5(ish)% don't know true apr as they only state the monthly as 0.4%

Husband

Frizell Visa - £1,329 @ 15.9%
Smile Visa Gold - £1699 @ 10.9%
Sime Visa Classic - £1101 @ 10.9%
American Express - £2112 @ same rate as above

Okay, so the idea (my idea!) was to pay off the Sainsbury's Visa and Frizzell one ASAP over next few months by throwing all our spare cash at them and pay minimum on the others. Then attack the Smile Cards next by BT'ing them to the Capital One card, I worked out that we could repay these within the 18 month 0% APR period. Then concentrate on the Amex cards last because these are on longterm low apr.

However, husband has just had a rejection through today from Capital One, and now I am worried about applying for anymore CC's in his name until I sort out what the issue is with his creditfile (shouldn't be anything as we have recently mortgaged and got a car loan no problem). However, I have a feeling my creditfile is probably better, applied for Amex card last month and got it straight away.

My question is, can we BT the Smile cards onto a card I apply for in my name only if there is a problem with my husband's creditfile??? If not I guess we will just have to pay them off ASAP but obviously would have been better off on the 0% apr!!!

Anyone got any advice??? Am open to other suggestions on how to best tackle the repaying of these cards.

ta, V

There should be no problem doing a BT from your husband's cards onto yours.

You say he was rejected by capital one - it may simply be the amount of debt as a % of his salary. After all his total debt is
£6241 on those cards plus whatever the car loan is, whereas your total is only £3k ish. You can always take a look at his credit report though - there are instructions on this site about getting it for free from experian.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

Thanks frugglewump. The % shouldn't be an issue based on his salary tbh. But I see where you are coming from. I have applied via the loophole on Experian for his creditfile, however, they appear to be having issues and so far are unable to give me online access!! Is it wise for me to check first with a CC before applying to see if they will allow us to BT between us?
