Washing Machine leaves brown particles on clothes!

Any ideas for cleaning out a washing machine?

I've got a 1 year old automatic Ariston which has never been abused. It has started leaving brown particles on the clothes which I often have to rinse out separately.

I've cleaned the filters, put it through wash cycles with diluted bleach but it is still happening. The water supply is clean so this stuff must be growing in the pipes!

I'd get on to the manufacturer and ask their advice....

Sounds like scale to me. I used to get this alot from my old machine. Have u tried using calgon tablets made for getting rid of this? I didn't bother myself so can't say if they are any good or not.

I've used several types of descalers for mine as it's on all the time. Calgon is good but some companies do cheaper versions.

You can also use white vinegar, cup full in, rub around the inside with it and run hot wash cycle without any clothes in. Then rinse again. I have used baking soda.

Make sure you rinse twice IMO as it can damage if left on same as detergents, vinegar etc.

All of these work, and done regular (once a month) stop the gunk building up. Hence my last washing machine did 3 loads a day for 7 years without a flicker.

Check for blockages while you are in there.
One day I might be more organised...........

Sounds like a rusty safety pin or something similar - probably stuck between the lining and the drum!
