Rust on car - minimising/repairing

I hope you can help me with a quick question, I have a small amount of rust on my car in front of the back wheel, where the paint had previously been scraped - it's about 5 spots the size of 20p pieces.

Is the best solution to use a car paint pen to cover this up? Will this stop the rust spreading?

No, ideally you need to sand back the rust to bare metal, apply a rust killer and then primer and then top coat.

Depends what the car is and how long you are going to keep it.

But, generally, amateur repairs look worse than doing nothing.

Krust will remove rust and turn rust back into metal, Hammerite do it

You then need to use primer then colour of car make sure primer matches the right colour, halfords tell you right primer colour usually 2-3 colours

Be careful as its very easy to mess up, also check you got right colour paint to match the number in chasis

There are 2 aspects to this. 1 is to stop the rust becoming a major issue, the 2nd is to make the car presentable again.

For 1 as Inactive described, bottom the problem, rust proof and fill the repair, then, etc etc. A quick splash from a Halfords can will effect a repair.

In case 2, you do as above and depending on whether your car is metallic/pealescent or solid coloured, you get a made up spray can from a decent paint shop, (actually Halfords do this quite well), or, you get the local bodyshop to blend it all in.

All depends on how you value the car and on your own "talent" ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
