Ok so normally were fine fro money and in 2 weeks when i get paid from my new job we won't have to worry at all BUT im in very part time work at mo so dh is funding everything really and i pay the bills.. iv'e just sat down to order dd's new bed (she has waited months for this btw) checked dh's account (which he never does and i forget so is done rarely) and it has 3 transactions on.
Vodaphone £30
Vodaphone £30
O2 £30
Obviously with him being with Virgin and never used these companys alarm bells started ringing and we called the fraud line. They have said it was done miles away and on a day we were both out shopping so the card has more than likely been cloned. It has been stopped and a form sent out to be filled in and then a new card at some point.
The dillema is.. typically we are fine for money and he pays me £100 each week to cover the bills but as his account is frozen how do we do this now?i am currently overdrawn as were using his account for funds and now we can't?.. How does the form work when we get it?
Really fed up tbh as like i said dd' bed needs to be done now as she is away in 2 weeks and the delivery is poss 14 days..the funds need to go into my bank or ill get charged at this rate and not sure what to do..dd has stormed off saying it is all my fault (the joy of children!) but i can understand her being upset having waited so long.
These bloody people wind me up something cronic and have no idea how much trouble they cause.
Help please!

Are you sure the account is frozen?
Normally when fraud is committed, cancelling the card suffices in preventing further fraud (as this was the means for defrauding the account). I would double check with Barclays, because you may find that transfers can be still be made to other accounts, etc.
I'm not familiar with Barclays fraud process. Normally speaking, the bank will get the account holder to sign a declaration (confirmed the fraud wasn't committed by them) before commencing with the investigation. They should temporarily credit the account, and then perform a chargeback through Visa.
I'm afraid I can't be anymore specific, but hopes this general information helps.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
HI thanks for the reply.
He was just told the account had been stopped so i am not sure exactly what that means..i guess if he went to the cash point its useless..although saying that being a typical BH monday i cant pay anything in manually anyway (isnt it always BH things go wrong!!)..like i said he has all the money so a bit fed up we are in limbo tbh.
He was with me all day and we bought things in a town near us..in my mind i guess that makes it clear that we werent where the fraud was committed and we have receipts to prove it if need be..im not sure how they decide how you havent done it as such?
The only thing im cross about and it may sound stupid is dd's bed..she has waited aaages for me to buy it and the one night i sit down this happens..it is a suprise for her going away and she is pretty hacked off as am i.
Guess we will have to with till tue and nip into the bank and ask them.0 -
If the fraud was committed using the card, it is unlikely the bank has done anything more than cancel the card. So the account should still be accessible (and transfers/ withdrawals) via branch, telephone banking or online.gabyjane wrote:im not sure how they decide how you havent done it as such?
I'm not entirely sure myself. The chargeback involves the merchant's (i.e. Vodafone and O2) bank investigating the reported fraud. You will probably find, the transaction was made using the automated top-up services to an account with no connection to the account holder. It's a common type of fraud, see below:-

Hi thanks..just to say we have dh's card here so it was not used by someone in person a such..im guessing over the phone or online? i dont use top up cards for our mobiles so unsure how they even work.
We are not going to try moving any money etc as unsure it may bounce back again? I have just tried to transfer some to mine using another account we have and its declined as im guessing BH as says only available from the 5th onwards? i hate BH!!0 -
Exactly the same happened to me in March, they will have frozen the debit card on your account not the account itself, I asked how I was able to access my money and they said as long as i brought photo ID with me to the bank they would be able to let me withdraw my money. If you bank online and do not use the pinsentry system (although I highly recommend it) you can access your account and still move money. HTHComping wishlist for 2017
