Child's earnings when parent on income support

Please can someone advise, my son is in receipt of DLA and I am his carer (we live in same house) I am receiving carers allowance and income support. He is in full time education and is almost 17.
He would like to get a job, I too would like this (mainly to teach him some independence) and to help pay for his ever increasing needs as a young man.
What is the situation please, is this money deducted from the benefits?
Any unkind or benefit bashing replies will be ignored as my son has severe and enduring bipolar disorder and caring for him has seriously affected my health.
Thanks.

Does your son receive anything else?
Have I misread what you've said, or are you saying you'd like to get a job too? (or is it "I would like him to get a job"?)
DLA is only affected if he takes a job and it goes against any care and /or mobility needs he has.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

His earnings aren't deducted from either his or your benefits.0

Just him at present, I am too worn out caring for him, yes I know DLA is not means tested.

If your son starts doing paid work for 24 hours+, tax credits for him will stop.
Your son would be entitled to WTC because of his DLA. (other criteria may apply) You'd lose tax credits you'll get for him.

Thanks ONW, I believe what you say of course, but could you direct me to a link I can show my son as his anxiety will need calming with proofBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -

That is very unlikely, he is rarely able to manage college for the whole 3 days due to his illness, this is more likely to be about 5-10 hours at most, truthfully I don't think he will be able to manage, but he needs to find that out for himselfBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -

Very sensible to check.
From Directgov,
"If your child starts work or goes on benefits
Your tax credits payments will stop straight away if one of the following applies:
your child leaves full-time education or approved training, works 24 hours or more a week and gets paid
your child goes on benefits or starts getting tax credits
But your payments can continue if your child works and both of the following apply:
your child stays in full-time education or training - as long as it qualifies for tax credits
your child must have applied, been accepted for or started their course before the age of 190 -
