have to say I am tending toward those colours - or a sort of 'dark' neutral IYSWIM - I am all Magnolia'dout as Valli Towers The First was woodchip and magnolia
everywhere....
:rotfl:
(when it was bought. I tend not to marry DIYers. This is my great fault. The NEXT Mr Valli will have the skills, and contacts, of Tommy Walsh or he'll hit the high road :rotfl:)
Giggling here, me too!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I'm in again please!
Thank you so much to pigpen, toots, soappie and mystery toots.
I got 5 virtual stars last week and am starting with a clean house - what a lovely feeling!
Have a good week everyone x0 -
I shall tell you a tale.
The first Mr Valli (who I bumped into in town on Saturday actually with his toddler kids....) did fluff all in the diy dept...
Anyway, many years later your very own Valli is backstage (helping) at a dancing school show where there were LOTS of tots never been backstage before and Lil Miss Valli and the first Mr Valli, who has landed a job in the theatah (dontcha know) as an ASM (assistant stage manager - s'not what you know but who but anyway I digress)...
Valli kicks up a fuss about the precarious 'flats' (screen things at the side of the stage) the darkness and the general inexperience of tots who will crash into the weights supporting the flats as they aren't used to being backstage in the dark. ASM (ex Mr Valli, remember) wanders off and comes back with a whacking great De Walt cordless drill, and drills the flats securely into position thus enabling removal of weights and diminishing chances of tots crashing into them...
'Oh!' says I 'I didn't know you could use a drill'
'If you had known...' starts another mother who is NOT allowed to finish her sentence and is dragged off by Valli
'Ssh' says Valli - 'ex husband!'
cue much goggling/staring/commenting all night from everyone else while I BEG them to say nothing to DD who does not (yet) know that the ASM was once married to her own dear Mama!
(she does now though as she is old enough to understand! - he's not her father BTW)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Decorating tales (I can see this is the night for 'em...)
My mother tells me that a'fore I was born (they were married for six years before I came along), my father decided that he'd decorate the hallway in their new house.
At the time he was a copper, my mum worked in a bank. She went off for her day's work in the morning with the assumption that her beloved knew what he was doing.
He, on the other hand - in the best OS traditions, went down the station and picked up the first few tins of (free) paint he could find.
She came home to discover he'd painted the entire hall (including the ceiling) in gloss black paint. Hey, it was free, right? :rotfl:
How they are still together some almost 50 years later is anyone's guess0 -
and if anyone can suggest paint colours for a very bright south east (?) facing - judging by where the sun is- bedroom I would be very interested (we already have Natural Hessian and Natural Wicker elsewhere (and you can probably work out my preferred brand from that and that is in regard to how it goes on...))
This will be a summer hols project I think...unless I go mad at half term:rotfl:
You are (virtually) painting over Violet White which is clearly MUCH more Violet than white looking at my bedroom walls...bedding/lightshade/curtains all match Violet white so moneysaving IF I don't need new..
Mulberry or raspberry.. and get rid of white skirtings.. I hate white skirtings!!!
Or just go purple and keep the old violet stuff...LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
The only time my EH willingly painted anything was one day when I had a friend round - he hadn't met her before and decided he didnt like her, so painted the hall :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I used to paint a whole room whilst he was at work, and he wouldnt notice when he got home.....:mad:
