Sounds like the Element on the oven has broke if it is electric. What make is it ? you can then look on line to see if you can get the element and see if its easy to fit it.

The fan is over compensating as well, not sure if the oven isn't making as much noise as normal or that the fan is woring over time....I am worried that it will be a £60 call out job

    Try espares

The Heating element is the heating bit and the thermostat is the temperature regulator bit. So no they are not the same in case you are in doubt.

    A tip:
The hot air rises and the thermostat will turn off the heat, if the fan is not working then the bottom of the oven will stay cool, check out the fan is working still.

Your oven has an element at the back that sits round the fan, it sounds like the element is gone.

To get to it you need to remove the oven from its housing and remove the back plate, then you can easily change the element.

They are not very expensive, £20-£40 max, and easy to do.
