    Thanks for your replies everyone!

The dog is being sold as the owners have split up and neither of them is home enough to look after the dog properly so they wanted a quick sale. I don't know of any medical background other than he has had his vaccinations but I would of taken him to a vets before I handed over any money anyway.

My husband has had quite a bit of contact with the dog and it has always been a cuddly, docile dog.

The owner gave us the dog on Sunday night to see how we got on with it as we were really in 2 minds.

He is truly lovely and I would of loved to keep him but as you would expect at 14 weeks he was full of energy that our 11 year old dog did not appreciate! Our Cat which is bigger than the dog kept hissing at it and our 15 month daughter was scared of it whenever it came anywhere near her.

I am sure that it would of all calmed down and he could of been a lovely addition to our household but the head ruled and I think we have enough children and pets for now so we gave him back.

Also we are supposed to go on holiday at the end of the month for 2 weeks and I don't think further upheaval would of been fair on the pup.

He is back living with the female owner whilst they try to find a new owner for him, she lives on our road so I keep seeing him go past :-( But I am happy that we made the right decision but I might have to look this breed up again in 5 years time!

What is the background of the query though? Were you looking for a dog of this type and this one came up or is it just an offer out of the blue? Its just you seem very unsure about the whole thing.

No we weren't looking for a dog. My husband has had quite a bit of contact with him through his work lately and fell in love with him so the owner asked him if he would be interested.

I was unsure as my hubby called me up out of the blue sunday afternoon and wanted an answer on the spot whether I wanted it! I pointed out that at that time we didn't know the breed, age, toilet trained, good with children!?!
