Faulty Car Seat - How to reclaim repair cost

OK In brief we have a MaxiCosi car seat (our second one) but the webbing has frayed and via email the supplier has decided this is due to abuse and we have to pay £40 to repair it. The Car Seat is 9 months old, our other one is 2.5 years old, same model, no problems, so I am not exactly happy about this.
In short if we pay for repairs does anyone have any ideas on our likelihood of reclaiming this from Kiddicare who say it was abused and want to charge to repair it and if so what should we do prior to repair to provide evidence.
Thanks.

After 6 months it is up to you to prove that the item is inherantly faulty. You need to get an independant report as to the cause of the fault. You will have to pay for this but if it is in your favour you will be able to reclaim this.
Have you spoken to MaxiCosi yet ? They are usually very good and may be able to help. They have often repaired seats FOC where the damage has been questionable.0 -
zero chance, they have already said they beleive it to be caused by abuse on your part, their not going to suddenly change their mind and pay for a repair just because you send them the bill!!0

I read this as Kiddicare want to charge for the repair not the manufacturer.0
