Waitrose voucher acceptance

My closest store closes at 20:00, so what time do you think is a good time to go and get some bargains? I used to live in cambridge, and just used to go about an hour before and mill around. Does anyone work for waitrose and know the optimum time?0

I have now tried waitrose twice and what i have done is ask politely at the customer service desk what their policy before i start my shopping - like tesco's it seems to vary though, which is annoying. In one i was told we take a third, as long as we sell them and the other wouldn't take them. Pot luck!0

It does vary by store but generally an hour before closing will see the big reductions, especially on a Sunday. In the last 20 minutes things will go down even further. The best bargains are to be had on the counters, more so meat and fish than deli. (Breaded fish is often reduced to clear on the fish counter, and sausages and the less popular/fattier cuts of meat on the meat counter. Pate seems to be the most commonly reduced thing on the deli counter).
Also the till system is a bit primitive and dated compared with bigger players like Tesco so multibuy offers still work on reduced items, including "buy 2 for £2" type offers.0 -

Thanks for that, I used to enjoy the way the tills used to pay you to buy the reduced stuff at Tesco or Sainsbury's. I remember buying reduced pizzas for 10p and actually making money towards the other shopping on my receipt because of the offer still kicking in. Doesn't happen at Tesco now!
I will definitely check out Waitrose more closely soon! :TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Went to Waitrose in Wilmslow today and tried to use 3 coupons (total value only about £1) for products I hadn't bought on a total spend of about £8.50. The coupons were all in date and were for items that Waitrose sold, e.g. Flora margarine and Andrex toilet roll.
Cashier absolutely refused point blank to take them, and said I had to buy the products on the coupons. Went to see supervisor who stood by what the cashier had said.
I mentioned the confirmation e-mail from Waitrose which appears on this website and the supervisor said I must have been mistaken as there was no way anyone from head office would say that. She was absolutely adamant that I was wrong and she was right.
I so wish I'd printed it out and took it with me. Anyway, I'll be e-mailing their CS department immediately.0 -
Not many of the staff in the Godalming branch seem to know the policy so i just mention the ''EMAIL...'' and they say ''OK''
Also the fresh cake counter reduces £20 cakes to about £1 and 70p cakes to 5p - bargain if you ask me!0 -

I have two recent bargains with reduced itemss till kicking in with BOGOF offers, Bacon packs reduced to 50p and BOGOF working and just yesterday, BM Chicken Escalopes 2 pack reduced to £1.25 and BOGOF still working0 -
I tried my local Waitrose yesterday, and a manager came over and virtually refused all of my coupons saying that I had to buy the product.
He did accept the printed £1 Cleanex, Huggies, Andrex one, which was great as I had a load of those, and they dont scan in Tescos, but at Waitrose they manually enter the £1 off. It was great and I still have all my other scanning coupons for Tesco's.
It was a bit stressed, though, I'm not sure if they arent starting to crack down at Waitrose as well. You have to pick your till assistant well, and this was the only one under 40 in my local.Amazon Sellers Club Member Number 52
