If you really need a completely new line installation, BT currently have a £29.99 connection offer on (18 month contract).

However, a free reconnection (12 month contract) will apply in many cases.

The person you spoke to was clearly on commission and selling you the whole line, broadband and TV package bumps up their earnings. Having said that, taking all 3 earns a connection charge waiver (if one would have applied).

Yes I do need the connection, and yes she kept saying that I was saving £124.99 connection fee, that she would do 'free' if I took the Talk, surf and watch package. I know that is a good saving but I'm thinking of the 60pounds odd a month for 18 months

Just order a £29.99 line and add whichever ADSL broadband (need not be BT) you want then (if you went for BT's cheapest broadband (BT Total Broadband Option 1), the line and broadband would cost £26.03 per month).

I'm not a fan of BT Vision - AFAICS it's a Freeview hard disc recorder with BT's video-on-demand via BT broadband (a clever way of locking you into BT broadband).
