BT Threateneing letters.(BT Reps please)

Last year BT switched me from their Pay&Go service onto a normal account, which has doubled my monthly bill effectivly as I only used it for internet.
Anyhow,at the time I was unemployed so my bills were paid sometime during the month they were due but always paid before the next bill was due.
I am now in work.BT send me my online bill on 5th of the month but this month it was not recieved until 8th of April.
So far,I have not paid my bill as I have been off sick since the last week in March, since around the 10th April,I have been reciving threatening reminders from BT,Yesterday I recived one threatening to cut me off completely if the bill was not paid that instant!
(I am only recieving SSP at present while I was off sick,I went back to work last week.)
So again I called BT to advise them the bill (£20.40) will be paid either on Monday if I recieve my TA Home to Duty expenses for Feburary) or on 7th May when I get paid.
The call was answered by an overseas agent, who did'nt ask me any DPA questions, did'nt call me by my name & then gave me an additional 25 days in which to pay,all this in less than 1 minute from answering!
To say I dont believe that the the BT 'Rep' I spoke to did anything is an understatement & therefore I am expecting to be cut off sometime before Friday!
So if the's any BT reps reading this, could you please drop me a PM ect to get this sorted.
Thanks.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Well,
I just got a e-mail from a chap called Rodney who has sorted it out, apparently the chap I originally spoike to has given me an extra 25 days to pay the bill.
Just his,for want of a better phrase, lax attitude made me doubt this.

So thanks to the agent & to Rodney for clarifying matters.
