Has Anybody Ever Bought A House That Had An Extension Without Building Approval?

Our room, that was once a garage is single skin. We replaced the roof as the previous one was leaking. We now have a proper, insulated, pitched roof on the room. It also has double glazed windows. It is always slightly colder than other rooms in the house, but then with 3 outside walls that is likely. We haven't had damp problems. I know that the single skin means that it won't meet building regs, but as the garage was built in the late 1930s, there were no building regs at that time.
I thought that mortgage lenders can get picky if a kitchen is made of single skin, so you may want to query this. It may not effect your lender, but it could effect your sale if your buyer has a high LTV. Ours is a lounge, so isn't so crucial in lender's eyes. Also anyone getting a 90% LTV on our place would need their head examined.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks Silver, a high LTV could fully understand the Mortgage company taking a closer look0
