Toyota- no base model Aygo?
Options
HI
Went into local dealer yesterday to look at the Aygo.
They only had special edition model in show room.
Asked to look at a basic model 5 door, they did not have 1 and salesman says he has never seen 1.
I understand that they can not keep every model in but is this just a ploy to try and get me to spend more?
Was told if I wanted a 5 door base model I would have to wait 12 weeks- also final price/deal free insurance etc could not be sorted until they had recieved the car. Surely this is decided on date of purchase?
Was told if I buy model up, a plus i would get more kit plus get the money back when I come to sell- which is all well and good but means that I would have to borrow an extra £500-£700 now.But I could have the car in 2-3 weeks.
Any body else come across this when looking at a base model?
Thanks

If you want the Toyota Aygo have you tried to contact any other Toyota dealers in your area?
See what they say. Where I live there are 3 within 40 miles of me.
Look on the Toyota web site for details of other dealers.
Also check to see what extras are on the next model up and decide if you think that these are worth the extra £500 to £700
I myself have a top of the range Yaris diesel and the with has a Yaris colour collection. When I bought it I was looking at doing 40000 miles a year in so wanted the comfort. Changed job location about 6 months later so now do about 12000 a year. car is now 3 years old and has lost %55 of its value.
If I had purchased a colour collection like the wife still lost %55 of its value. But %55 of £11500 is far worse than %55 of £96003.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds0 -
I've just ordered a T4 Avensis Estate & was told 8-12 weeks - regardles of colour etc.0

The Aygo + is £6285 at "The Times" online
http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,13349,00.html
This is £1000 off approx.
Tell your local dealer to match that!Nice to save.0 -
I sent an email off to an online broker- dealer in next town rang me this am-part of same group as my town dealer.
He told me that I could have a car in 2-3 weeks! When I question him re 12 week order-maybe some one cancelled an order, so car now avaliable!!
On online quote form told them I wanted car for £6500- just a bit less than what car target price. He told at this they would be making £22. He then when on to say that he would bring a car to my home address today for me to test drive. Can`t today- children and school hol` etc.
Going to test drive at weekend- will print off deal and show him- will let you know how I get on.
Just looked at link- this is a pre reg car- but at a saving so who cares
Although that could be for a 3 door and i need a five as I have young children.April Grocery challange £175

or buy the citroen, or the peugeot that are all the same car...if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0

We've got a Yaris T-Spirit ready to be part-exd to something a little bigger. At our local dealer the only Corolla they seemed willing to sell us was a "Colour Collection", no attempt to offer a "T" model and they were actually trying to steer us away from anything other than a special edition.
Very aloof salesman told us that Toyota don't do discounts or price negotiations.
Peed us off so much we've paid off the Yaris, sold it privately and gone for a Skoda VRS online. A better car and a better deal.
Some dealers are great, but word soon gets around if they try and stiff you with special editions they can't get rid of.0 -
I read in my auto express that they advise to go for the cheapest one as Porker has said they are all the same.
The cheapest is usually the Citroen.
You won't gain anything by getting the Toyota.
They are all made in the same factory by the same people so it won;t be any more reliable than the others.

Again try the citroen C1 as it is the same car... I always have a little smile on my face when I see people driving the Peugeot 107.. again the same car but almost £1000 more expensive than the citroen and the Aygo!!!:rolleyes:0

Had looked at the Citroen C1, but by looking on What car etc it looks like I should be able to pick an Aygo up for the same price.
Plus the Aygo should keep more value and I rang up about servicing Aygo was about £350 and Citroen was £650.
Still not sure what to do- maybe now is a bad time to buy with new regsd and all- someone told me best deals are to be had in Jan? Might wait and save up more towards a deposit so i have to borrow less- I don`t like loans or spending money!April Grocery challange £175
