Shrub Spacing

Hi All

I hope i can get some help here so thanks in advanced :)
I would like to plant some shrubs in the front garden which is 6.2m x 1.8m

roughly how many shrubs would i need to get it densely covered and how far apart should i plant them so they have enough space to grow?

Ideally i don't want to see any ground, the other option could be planting some type of flower between the shrubs till they thicken up?

I did take a trip to the garden center and have an idea of shrubs I'd like to use
as the soil is quite clay like i was recommended Hebes, Euonymus, Lavender, Choistya, among others

Also any tips for prepping the ground would be helpful too. I am a complete novice so want something simple to maintain xxx

You'll need to read the labels of the shrubs you want to buy to find out what their maximum spread is and plant them accordingly. It isn't possible to give even a rough guide even though you name some of the shrubs you want to use: different varieties will grow to different size.

If your soil is reasonable you needn't do anything other than dig it over and prepare the planting holes (when you're ready to plant) by mixing some compost with the soil. Personally I sometimes don't even do this, but it is the general advice. Remove all weeds of course. For very low maintenance, put down weed suppressing membrane and cover with bark chipping.

Don't be too concerned if the border seems very gappy at first - the shrubs will grow to fill them in.
