How many cheques will the bank let you bounce ?

I ask as someone who has had several cheques, which have bounced, from a 'friend' I loaned money to...
I am not alone.
This person has been dishing out 'bouncing' cheques all over the place.
If these cheques are going back to the bank, why doesn't the bank put a stop to it.
I really do need advice on this. I'm out of my depth.
Thank you for reading.

Why have you posted this on two boards?
You are asking a pretty stupid question.
A cheque will only be honoured or dishonoured AFTER it has been written so the person concerned can carry on writing cheques until their book runs out.0 -
If i was cynical I may think your the 'friend' and your wondering how much all these rubber cheques will cost you0
-
If one cheque has bounced why would you accept another as payment?0

In the hopes that one day I will get my money back
Sorry it was a stupid question to some of you.
It's not to me and my family:(
*Do the banks never ever ask WHY the cheques are still being written ?
another silly question I suppose but one I truly do not know the answer to.
Thank you to those who thought about helping me.0 -
Is it not illegal to write a cheque you know will bounce?0

Well, you - I mean, your friend - will not get your money back by trying to cash invalid cheques. I suggest a more direct approach to the person concerned, with a view to taking cash.0 -

That's probabably the question I should have asked.0 -

You try asking someone you are very close to that question.
I am afraid to 'fall out' with this person cos I may get nothing back.
They know this0 -
Unfortunately I can't, I really do need to get that money back.
Thank you for answering me.0
