Refused JSA

I am confused and need help. My wife who was recently granted ILR by the Home Office applied for JSA but was refused as she had insufficient contributions.
I have now included her in my claim for income support and am awaiting confirmation but the jobcentre have stated that if she continues to sign for JSA they will give her N.I. contributions.
My question is this.
What benefit/advantage does she gain by signing every two weeks and getting N.I. contributions?

Does she have recourse to public funds?
Why are you on IS?Gone ... or have I?0 -
The NI contributions she signs on for will count towards her state pension.0

No, women now accrue their own pensions through their own national insurance contributions. The playing field is levelled as people receiving child benefit get credited with national insurance as do people who are signing on as unemployed and people on disability benefits.
Out of interest, do you get DLA? If your premiums on income support are related to your disability and living alone you will no longer be able to claim them but if you claim middle care or higher care DLA your wife can claim carers allowance which should redress the loss of the premium.
Try putting figures into https://www.entitledto.com to see what other help you may be able to get.0 -
I have just completed form for DLA about 2 weeks ago and I expect it will many moons before I receive an answer0

Is she not entitled to Pension based on my contributions?[/QUOTE]
At pension age, 65,67 or 68 if she had not paid any contributions or less than 20 years or so she would be able to claim state pension on 60% of your contributions. (as things are today but who can say what rules will be in force then)make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
