  • Absolutely only way to get a price is to get someone in to price it for you .

On here I suspect you`ll get conflicting reports and prices ranging from £18 to £100 per square metre so not very helpfull I`m afraid .

It depends on the tiles (mosaic, stone, large format, porcelain, ceramic etc), the condition of your walls, how complex the room is and quite frankly how busy the tilers are in your area.

I employ tilers reasonably regularly in the South East and I expect to pay up to £40 sq/m for a quality fitter to provide a high standard installation.

You will find cheaper, as with any trade, you pay your money and take your choice.

I'd advise you get a recommendation, there's no better advertising than recommendation.

I paid £400 to have our 6x5x8 foot bathroom tiled, and that was with me providing the tiles. He came 'recommended' by someone who did a smashing job of plastering for us, so I thought he'd be good, but this guy made a dog's dinner of the tiling.

Try your hand at it yourself if you are using big tiles which aren't stone or anything fancy. You'll save a load and you might do it better than a so called professional. It really isn't hard, and I so wish I had done mine myself.

When I got a smallish area tiles in my bathroom I got 3 quotes - and the prices varied from £120 to £250. I went for the middle one in the end. I know its a hassle but always try and get at least a couple of quotes.

Here we have a strange anomaly that often occurs in the building industry, assuming if someone can do one trade then they must be able to do another reasonably well.

If you had toothache, you wouldn't see a chiropractor, you'd go to a dentist.

If you want tiling done, get a tiler, not a plasterer, there is an art to tiling, like there is for any trade.

I think they meant they were recommended the Tiler by a plasterer that did a great job.

I have the great fun of trying to lay our Kitchen Floor, Working on the principal of if you want it done right do it yourself.
