Someone has tried to brake into my sons car and they have damaged the metal around the lock:mad: The lock is ok but slightly loose.I have noticed in the past that you can get a small metal plate that will cover the damaged metal/paint around the lock??? Been searching on the net for this but no joy:( Can anyone help locating such a thing.
Oh its a 2004 punto btw.

Turkey foil is probably the same thickness as the original door panel.

Get some fibreglass filler from a car shop & use that instead then use a sticker/scratch guard to hide the damage.

Is this what you are looking for?

    Halfords Lock Scratch Guards Black

Think checkerplate would be a bit ugly, but something along those lines.

It wont add any strength to the panel as they just stick on, To add strength you need to get something welded into the gap which would probably not be worth the effort.

Adding an extra plate will work upto a point but you will need to modify the lock to fit the door/plate.

Fibreglass & one of those covers will do the job. A weak point on older cars that do not have deadlocks, If they have deadlocks they just break the windows anyway.
