I've just found out that one of the lads in my daughter's class has written some not so nice stuff about her friend, on Facebook. She's going to tell her parents and I'm sure they will deal with it, but I'd like to find out if he's also written anything about my daughter.
I'm not a Facebook member, if I join up would I be able to search my daughter's name to see if anything comes up, or does it not work like that?

No it does not work like that.
You'd have to go into his profile (which may or may not have been set as private) and then go through what he's been typing.
You may even have to add him as a friend (which he'd have to confirm you are) to see anything he's been typing.
Unless your daughter has a facebook account and he's been posting stuff on her wall?

to be honest I dont know how it works ,but could you ask your daughter outright if he has written anything0

No it doesn't work like that. You will only be able to see what he has written on his wall if you are a "friend" of his. He has to actively accept you as a friend before the access is allowed. And even then you may only have access to a very limited profile of his.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Thank you.
My daughter does not have a Facebook account, she's 10 and we don't allow Bebo or Facebook or any social network sites at the moment. She wont know if he's written anything or not, I don't suppose he would be honest about that if he thinks he might have the other girl's Mum or Dad on his back.0 -
If the boy is 10 then he's not allowed a Facebook account either.
There is a reason why Facebook insist that their users are 13 or over - because children under the age of this generally lack the maturity to be able to use it properly.
Report him - they should delete his account and everything he's typed.
What should I do if I become aware of an underage user (under thirteen) with an account on Facebook?Facebook requires its users to be at least 13 years old before they can create an account. Providing false information to create an account is a violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. If you would like to report an underage user (under 13 years of age), please do so here.

Thank you, good link. Would I need to know his Facebook account name or just his real name?0
-
I'd imagine you'd need his link. I've never reported anyone before.
You can always create an account for yourself and then search for him. People aren't usually too hard to find."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

The facebook account should be in his real name, everyone i know with one has there real name.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000

you could try typing his name and the word facebook into google for the link to his profile, you could get the link this way without having to sign up, and could therefore report it.0
-
You can create an account for yourself and then disable it afterwards. Search for his real name - you should find it fairly easily unless it's very common. A lot of people actually don't have any security on their accounts and you can often read their wall without being their 'friend' on there.
Thing is - what are you going to do with this information when you have it?0
