Need Some help RE: Family holiday in Benidorm

Hi
I have been asking around friends and others and cannot find the information I am looking for so I have turned to all you MSErs out there as a last salvation.

We have two young kids and after a terrible holiday in Magaluf this year (has great holidays there previously) we have decided to head for Benidorm next July.

I have tried and tried again to get as much info as I can from the net regarding the best area to stay in and I am completely confused. The thing is, the resort is such a large wide expanse that if I get it wrong I (or we!) could end up walking long distances when we'd rather not.

The old town sounds quite good, but I am getting mixed messages that the new town is also the place to go.

My wife and I like a place where we can enjoy the hustle and bustle of nightlife without getting too near the 'bad' areas where all you can see are clubs. We like sitting in a noisy bar people watching and not worrying about everything ending at 11pm at night. In other words when the kids are asleep in their prams we like to enjoy out eveing with a drink or too or three or four etc.....

What I missed this year was a selection of places where the kids are welcome with lots of things for the kids to do i.e family bars, bouncy castles etc.

Are there any areas in Benidorm that offer a mix of the two and can anyone who may have been to benidorm suggest whether the old or new towns are best (and where on earth is the new town)????

Need your help desperately.

Thanks in advance

New town is Levante area ,which has highest concentration of British pubs. This also has Rincon de Loix area but that is further away from beach and can be hilly. The really busy bit is English Square (Avinida Mallorca) if you are 100 yards away from here should be OK
Poniente is more cosmopolitan and mixed nationality.
Old town has a reputation for being "Gay" area . Its busy ,noisy and less family friendly.
We normally stay at Gemelos 2/4 apts which is pretty central but not too crazy noise wise and handy for everything. Gemelos 22,and Avinida Europa are close as a marker on a map.
We book with http://www.beninter.es/ You can see Levante on a map there. If you can afford the extra apts Torre Levante are worth paying extra for being right on the beach.
Churchills pub at the bottom of "Yellow brick road" has good family entertainment.
Waterpark and Terra Mitica are both good days out.
Tell me where you hope to stay and Ill tell you if its ok loc wise
