Hi I have been receiving income support based sickness benefit for a while now . I have been seeing a CBT counsellor who is great and following this decided to move in with my partner . I knew that i would no longer recieve housing benefit as he owns the propery but i was shocked when income support informed me that my benefits would stop..
My partner i am sure was not planning on me not contributing any money to living costs when i moved in here so am pretty worried about what i am going to do as i am not quite ready to commit to a job yet ( I have about 14 weeks left with CBTguy)
However i do look after my Mum who is disabled and have been advised that i may qualify for carers allowance ?? Does anyone know if i would recieve this if my partner is bringing in an income ? Thanks for reading I just cannot face going through a lengthy phone call at the moment .

Hi yes because your partner works full time your IS will stop ... i was in the same situation i was able to claim carers allowance as i care for my disabiled son but your mum must get middle or high rate care to get it.... and depending on both incomes when you get carers you may get a reduction with coucil tax, because all i get is carers and my partner a low wage we get help with rent and ct benefit:AAutism isn't the end of the world just a journey to another one:A0

though if your mum lives alone and receives the SDP, she may lose some of her entitlement if you claim as her carer.0

Your partner's income doesn't affect your Carer's Allowance, but you need to be caring for your mum at least 35 hours per week and your mum needs to be claiming one of the following:However i do look after my Mum who is disabled and have been advised that i may qualify for carers allowance ?? Does anyone know if i would recieve this if my partner is bringing in an income ? Thanks for reading I just cannot face going through a lengthy phone call at the moment .- Attendance Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance at the middle or highest rate for care
- Constant Attendance Allowance at or above the normal maximum rate with an Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
- Constant Attendance Allowance at the basic (full day) rate with a War Disablement Pension
