I would like to try rule based share investment.

Is anyone using a backtesting site/ software to check their investment stategies? I understand that some sites will link direct to a stockbroker or share dealing account with auto generated buy / sell instructions. Does anyone know of such sites or software for the UK.

Have never really heard of backtesting in conjunction with investing, it's more a tool used by active traders to test trading strategies, such as for example, indicator based trade signals. Since investors pay next to no attention to what indicators are doing I assume that is not what you are talking about. If it is simply a function of a price trigger you are looking for, then a limit order available to pre-place with most brokers would suffice. I really don't see where the backtesting would come in.
Perhaps a little more detail of what you are trying to do, with an example may yield more suggestions.
