Advice please for FTB-what next?

We signed the contract for our house the friday before last. We are exchanging and completeing on the same day so we advised our solicitor we want this to happen on 25th August. She said she would contact our sellers solicitor to see if this was ok and get back to us.
We have heard nothing since, we called middle of last week and were advised that our solicitor had not heard anything back from sellers solicitor but would keep us informed.
When we put our offer in for this house it was made clear that the sellers, although looking for another property to move to, would be able to move out as soon as everything had gone through as they were able to move back in with thier parents until they found a new house.
This was great, meant no chain as we are FTB coming from rented.
However, we were informed a couple of weeks back our sellers have now found a new property and want to complete within a set '28 day' period as the person they are buying from is buying a new build.
We therefore feel that the sellers are putting off deciding a completetion date with us as they no longer want to move in with thier parents and just want to wait till they can move into their new home whic could be a few weeks yet.
This is a real inconvienience for us as we are all set to go and it is stated in our paper work that the sellers can move out as soon as things things are ready with us irrelevant of any new property they buy.
So my question is what next? Do we have a right to say we are not happy to wait until their new house is ready? we are in rented and need to be out soon. Everything is in place to proceed. Shall we just keep calling our solicitor?
(sorry this is such a long post)

House purchase is "Subject to Contract". You can say that you are not happy. It may, or may not, help. Until you have exchanged contracts niether side is committed to anthing...0 -
People always say things to promote getting an offer. The fact is, most people find a house they want to move to and are they not prepared to move twice in order to get there.
This isn't really going to help you, but you should not give notice on a rented property until you are absolutely sure of your completion date. In reality, this doesn't occur until you have exchanged contracts, so the best bet for FTB in rented accomodation is to ask for four weeks between exchange and completion.
You can complain, but the likelyhood is that your vendors will ask you to wait until they're ready to move. If the property has already been built, then the prospect of the sale going through within 28 days quickly is entirely possible; if it isn't finished then your vendor will exchange contracts in 28 days time with an open ended completion date which is entirely in the hands of the builder.
I'd communicate through your estate agent on this. You pay them to communicate, not your solicitor really.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks for the replies.
We only gave notice on our rented property as with our agent they want two months notice or otherwise you have to renew for another six months. They do not offer monthly rolling contracts, bad I know. So basically we didn't want to sign up for another 6 months, we had no choice but to give our notice really.
We are not entirely stuck, we can move back with parents if we have to. I guess you learn from experience and we are certainly learning a lot from the experience of buying our first house!
Thanks again0
