We used to live in Blackpool. Some areas are a bit rough but generally, you should look for a house in Lytham, Kirkham, Poulton and surrounding areas...Central Blackpool is too touristy...
South Shore is an alternative....depends on whether you want the peaceful life or the alcohol-driven nature of the town ?0 -
Thankyou Deffinately something a bit quieter. The whole nightclubs and drinking but doesnt really appeal to either of us.0

Don't do it to yourself. If you have to then I go with what bgqs says. The area around Stanley park is really nice but if you have to use the main town for day to day shopping, I'd simply try to avoid it. Blackpool isn't that bad in the winter when the tourists are missing and much of the appaling behaviour with it, but there is still so much poverty there and many run down, seedy feeling areas.
Lytham is really lovely but the house prices definitely reflect that!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Looking for holiday ideas for 2016. Currently, Isle of Skye in March, Riga in May, Crete in June and Lake District in October. August cruise cancelled, but Baby due September 2016! :j0 -
prices in blackpool are one of ther biggest falling in the uk....do a lot of research as to me the place is going downhill fast...It reminds me of rhyl in north wales in the 80s and that place is a pit nowdays.....good luck....It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Thank you everybody who has replied I totally agree Rhyl is a dive. I went through there recently and was very disapointed to see it like that :-(
I will deffinately consider the fact that the house prices are still falling there. Its still very up in the air at the moment but I will take it all into consideration.0 -
We moved to Blackpool over 4 year ago and it has been fine. Like others have said just avoid living central. We bought first house near Stanley Park and that was lovely - now live in Bispham which is also great and i would recommend it.
We moved here as prices were more realistic that Preston at the time for us.
Shopping is good too and there is lots of investment going on making the sea front much more attractive.0 -
Lytham is lovely if you can afford it!0

Thanks for that information. I wasn't aware of that. Would you tell more, please?
