Bit of long one wingo, DD(13)still sees an ex neighbours daughter(16 just). DD has just confided that 16 year old is pregnant . She's had this confirmed but I've been sworn to secrecy. Dilemma is:
Ok I promised not to say anything, but, if it were my DD that was pregnant and an adult knew, I would hope they would tell me. I've asked a couple of friends and they say keep out of it but I'm worried about the girl coping with it on her own (emotionally)
    What do you think?

Edit: Have a great day MD!

I would leave it tbh Daphne. It could cause a breakdown in friendship between your daughter and this girl, and their age it would be awful.

I understand where you're coming from and I feel the same, however I think at 16 this girl is old enough to talk to her mother herself. I was 16 when I got pregnant with my DS1, it was hard and scary but I would have been devastated if someone else told my parents before me xx

Maybe this girl is just scared of how her parents would react. How about you approach the girl yourself in confidence, maybe say you overheard something? She might be scared like you say but I think it might be best if she were persuaded to tell her nearest & dearest. IMO. I think thats how I would feel if it were my dd. :)

Thanks sweetie, it's a two sided coin unfortunately, and I don't like either outcome. I really want to help her but as you say it might just make things worse. I feel so sorry for her.

I was very scared of how my parents would react, my parents were very stuck up :rotfl: The thing is, the girl is 16, that's quite old isn't it. Also, if Daphne does speak to her then the girl may get upset with Daphne's DD.

It's really tough, rock and hard place comes to mind. Maybe if you ask DD if she minds you having a word with the friend to try and give her some support and advice.

I've told DD to let her know if she wants some moral support I'm here for her and told her the longer she leaves it the harder it will be. The thing is I know her parents will be disappointed but they will stand by her whatever happens. They are really great, supportive people. :)
