excellent :) I don't need one until, annoyingly, the day after the freebie expires, but the half price deal is fab!

Hmm but don't you need to partake of the offer to get the 50% off?

Annoying that you have to travel with a child aged 5 - 15 to qualify. We don't have a car so we travel everywhere by public transport.

We are a family and we have friends but because we are child-free (not by choice but by medical problems) then we can't use the card.

Not sure what part of the country you are in, but if you are in the South, then there is a card called a network southeast railcard which does exactly the same and you don't need to travel with children.

Or, you could start a post with "annoyingly, we don't live or travel in the south" :D

I wouldn't recommend travelling without a child. Really not worth risking the fine. My latest card doesn't run out until August but I am getting the 2 month trial (hopefully) then getting the half price card.

If they don't let me then at least I have helped others along the way :)

Thanks - Ordered mine. The 50% of the full one is great value too.
Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A

yes, I ordered the freebie anyway because you never know - if the weather's great we might go to the seaside for a day.

If the 50% offer is a code then perhaps someone will post it here for everyone to use, but we may as well all go for the freebie while the offer is on :)

I need 2 returns and a single ticket during summer so this is a fab deal :)

I agree Hula. I wouldn't do anything that went against T&Cs but is seems madness that 2 adults and a child can travel cheaper than two adults! When our children were in their late teens, i.e. 16-18 and still at school we had to pay full fare for us all. The only alternative was to get three x 16-25 railcards for them but as these were £26 each this was not cost effective for our 2 or 3 train journies per year.
