This is one of those situations were you could end up keep firing money at it

Personally, if I had the computer with me ~ id run a FULL format and reinstall XP and make sure the correct drivers are one.
If it still reset then after checking all the obvious connections (Graphics card plugged in properly etc) then id be replacing the psu
If after the psu failed id be giving up at that point as it could take an age to find the actual problem

Does the following specification provide enough info on exactly what type of PSU I need & where I can buy it online please?:

    Delta DPS-160KB-2 C
    Input 100V-127V ~ /5A and 200V-240V ~ /2.5A @ 47Hz - 63Hz
    Output Max Power 160W
    +12V / 12A
    +5V / 23A
    +3.3V / 12A
    - 12V / 0.3A
    +5VS / 2.0A
    MAX COMBINED +5V & +3.3V IS 115.2W

Easiest thing to do would be remove it, and take it to a MAPLINS shop.
(hell, if your nice and they are, you may even find theyll take it out for you and replace it)

Main thing is it must be at LEAST 160W (doesnt matter if its 500 or whatever, it must be at least 160)

Having a quick google isnt giving me much

To make matters worse ive found theres an A a B and a C (yours being C Delta DPS-160KB-2 C).

So you could post another thread on here specifically to find that PSU (im no expert on where to get them). Or take it to maplins

For the price of PSU, it would be worth borrowing or buying a new one for testing purposes. You can get them as cheap as a fiver with 2-3x the power of your existing one

I didn't say fit btw, I said for testing purposes. If they don't have a multimeter or PSU tester the other method of testing the PSU is simply swap it

    EDIT .....
Just looked at the PSU's I offered, assumed it was Micro-ATX, those ones are weird !!! shape but it would still be possible to find them if you knew the form factor of it

    EDIT2.....
Here you go, TFX Form Factor (or looks very similar to it)

Without knowing the size of the PSU it's going to be a best-guess for the form factor

I was directed to the following PSU sold at PCWorld but it is out of stock and PCWorld don't have an email address on their site, I rang Head Office but they weren't any help. I have also been warned to avoid PCWorld and have become aware of their reputation.

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/power...x-criteria.html

As the PC is an RM Nimbus make, after emailing them directly, using the serial no they said that the following PSU will be compatible, it works out to about £25.00 when you add everything:

    http://www.rm.com/shops/rmshop/Prod...?cref=PD1644600

I contacted a seller on Amazon who also told me that the following PSU, £15.99 Total, will be compatible with the PC:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/400W-Noise-...89&sr=8-3-fkmr0

I think the one sold by RM Nimbus seems like a safer bet as they are the original manufacturers of the PC, but the price is quite steep for such an old model PSU.

Any suggestions please on which one I should purchase?

    Thank you.

As RIK says they won't fit, they're similar

To be honest, I'd be tempted to spend maybe £30 and simply buy yourself a Midi-ATX tower case or something then transplant the parts across

Yes, it's slightly more expensive and labour consuming, but your making your PC future proof so to speak because you will have space for a full size ATX power supply (they can be anywhere up to 1200w) and you will have additional drive bays for more drives if needed. Plus they will be easier to find

If you don't want to change case, get a ruler and measure your PSU size (W/D/L) then post here so we can search for you because yours is one of those manufacturer speciality jobs they're a pain in the !!!!.

I actually have a slimline Dell machine which had a p*ss poor PSU in that NO-ONE else makes (Least that I could find and I really did look). Instead of buying another from Dell (or the exact same elsewhere) I actually bought a standard PSU (With much more wattage) and simply sat it outside the pc :p

Not recommended, but its what ive done

It appears your right about those being too big, don't know why RM Nimbus themselves suggested that particular one even after I double checked.

It's going to be bit of a hassle moving his PC and opening it up to measure PSU with all the clutter in his room, but I'll do that if need be........

Measurements for the Desktop PC are:

    Length= 38cm Width= 32.5cm Depth= 10cm

I think you can take a look at what the Delta DPS-160KB-2 C PSU looks like and what the dimensions are from an ebay listing in Germany!:

    http://cgi.ebay.de/Delta-DPS-160KB-2-C-Mini-ATX-Netzteil-160-Watt-/200439582360?cmd=ViewItem&pt=PC_Netzteile&hash=item2eab214e98

Dimensions (Abmessungen) are in the bottom box of spec:

    9,2 x 6 x 22,5 cm

    L = 22.5cm? W= 9.2cm? D= 6cm?
