Is it possible to dismantle a fridge freezer?

Hi there
We have bought a house with a fridge freezer stuck in the cupboard under the stairs. We've taken the doors off but still can't get it out. We think the floor has been raised after the fridge was put in there.
Apparently there's all sorts of screws all over it so we could take it apart but wondered if anyone has some advice about safety matters please? I don't want to flood the cupboard and kitchen with toxic fumes!
Alternatively if anyone is a fridge engineer and would be interested in trying to dismantle the fridge to remove it from the cupboard I would be grateful for any contact with quotes.
Thanks very much for any help
Emma

You'll only be able to remove the doors. Your not allowed to damage the coolant system or the insulation foam as they both contain CFCs0

I've removed the doors & it still won't come out!
Any other ideas gratefully received!0 -
The wall of the cupboard will probably be a simple plasterboard on a wooden frame, i think i'd remove that. It wouldn't be a big job to make good the repair and decorating.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

You can't damage the compressor, evaporator coil, condenser coil, or pipework without releasing the refrigerant. Worst case, it's ammonia (unlikely) which could quickly kill you, best case it is a modern refrigerant, which could cause problems in an enclosed space, and is bad for the environment.
Most fridge freezers aren't easy to dismantled - you have to saw them apart. If there is any chance of releasing refrigerant, then call out an engineer - they will be able to recover it all easily and it shouldn't cost much.0 -
Thanks very much for all advice, most gratefully received.0
