Heading to SF in June and I've been told to book Alcatraz well in advance.
My question is which website is best (cheapest ?) to book with?

The evening tours are very atmospheric - just make sure you don't miss the last boat back to land:D0

Agreed. We just did this 3 weeks ago. Also the views of the City from Alcatraz at night are stunning.0 -
Another vote for the evening tour, much better than the daytime one.0

I'm in San Francisco just now. Make sure you only book with Alcatraz Cruises as they are the only official website. We were $33 each for the night cruise. The whole thing is about 3 hours long with loads of insights into what it was like. I think if you go during the day it is $26 each.
Like mentioned you need to book in advance because it is very busy. Make sure you take the card you booked it on with you as they ask you to show this when collecting your tickets.0 -
We went on the first boat of the day which ment the island was empty (apart from Rangers/staff) when we arrived.
Also as we were awake very early the first few days (before we'd adjusted to the time difference) it gave us the rest of the day to do other stuff - and we wouldn't have still been awake for the evening tour!
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
Yes you must book well in advance and yes, you would be well advised to use the official site which also supports eticketing..or it did last time i used it.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
