I have just installed a Belkin USB2 hi speed Pci card into my pc.. software installed fine and device manager tells me its working fine but every time I plug anything into one of the ports my pc crashes! Help.. any ideas?
I have restarted and reinstalled a number of times but every time I plug any device in, anything from printer to webcam the pc crashes. Advice as to how to stop it crashing? fixing the problem?
The annoying thing is the pc keeps telling me the webcam will work better in the usb 2 ports cos its hi speed! Annoying when every time I plug in it to a hi speed port it doesn't work at all and its instant crash

Make sure it's seated correctly. Any errors when it crashes? Blue screen errors?
Look in the Event Viewer for errors: click Start - Run - type in eventvwr and click OK.0 -
I am on XP and its up to date with all patches etc.
and yes blue screen errors a couple of times.. I am not at home now but will check seating etc when I get back. It all seemed fine too...solidly in etc.I love this site! :j0 -
check the driver that it's using, sometimes there is more than one and others are more stableEx forum ambassador

has it attempted to re-install the webcam when you plugged it into the USB2 port ??
might be worth uninstalling the webcam, then reinstall with it plugged into a USB2 portEx forum ambassador

Have you tried completely un-installing and then installing before plugging the device into your new USB2 port? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
