You will continue to be eligible for child benefit until the first monday in September and your son won't be eligible for benefit in his own right until then.

If your son gets EMA this should continue until his exams finish with a final bonus paid in July.

If he's 18, he can claim JSA between college & uni. However, child benefits would stop for him.

Unless the rules have changed in the last year, that isn't right. If you leave school/ college after April, CB continues til the end of August and the son can't claim.

If he's already applied, been offered and accepted a place at uni, then he is still a 'student' during all that time. he'd only be able to claim JSA if he was unemployed and actively seeking full time employment, where in fact what he would be seeking is work for a very short time.

You will still be able to get his child benefit and credit as far as tax credits go until end of August, but then they will stop. Come September, he will have his student loans.

Is he going to live away at university? You might want to start thinking about accommodation if so, as the first term needs to be paid prior to receipt of student loans in most cases - might want to check that out so that you can plan for it.
