Confused! in credit or not?
Options
I should be over the moon - our electricity supplier have just said we are £1,300 in credit and will pay us the money back. However, approx 2 years ago they hit us with a huge bill (they said we had only received estimated bills and they were underestimated) and last year they said they only way to clear this debt was to pay a big amount each month (which we agreed to £130 a month)
My husband just spoke to them and said pay me the money into my account but I am acting cautious here and thinking how can they suddenly owe us so much when we owed them?
How do we make sense of all this. Should I wait for the revised paperwork to come through (but this generally makes no sense to me anyway)or expect them to go over the phone with the details?

Does seem a bit odd, to me.
You'd need to know how big the 'huge bill' was, and what your actual usage was for this period before you can make any informed decision. Assuming both figures quoted are over 12 months, that would equate to you having used only £21.66 of electricity a month since you agreed to the £130 payment.
Does that sound reasonable, based on your own knowledge of your usage? If so, it looks like they haven't adjusted your balance for what you owed earlier.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
