BT Sales Calls / Grounds for complaint?

Hi everyone,
I have my line rental with BT, but all my calls/broadband/TV with sky as such BT have persistently mailshot or called me to try and persuade me to bring my calls back to BT on the basis that I will save money as my line rental will be cheaper by doing so. Each time i explain to them that if i did so my broadband charges with Sky would increase by £5/month and I'd actually be out of pocket overall.
This usually occurs at least once or twice a month and I know that being with the TPS does not stop them from doing so as I actually am a customer of theirs. (Or at least this is my general understanding). Now in my eyes this is bordering on harrasment.
Anyway last night they really ticked me off. Once I explained my situation the sales guy then decided to quiz me about my broadband service to which I told him it was faultless and I had no problems with it what so ever – I was getting 17meg downstream, unlimited bandwidth, 10 quid a month you can't do me a better deal - I'm not interested.
This is where his sales pitch took a new direction, he then lied to me and told me that this couldn't be the case as my line could only handle 2 meg, maybe 3 meg maximum and this was all I was getting from Sky, and despite me telling him that my router was actually connected at 17 meg (speed tests report on average I get 15Meg) and i can actually see the exchange down the road out of my front room window he continued to lie in an attempt to sell me their broadband product. Eventually he let up when I was having none of it and he didn't succeed this time, but if i was less tech savvy and didn't know better I might of believed him and he would of had a sales pitch by lying to me.
At the time i was more interested in the Liverpool match so didn't really take notice of his name and thought nothing of the call, but is there a grounds for complaint here, and if so should this go direct to OFCOM or would it be worth taking this up with BT customer service first? Also has anyone else had this sales tactic thrown at them by BT?
If anything this had now made me decide to take my line rental to Sky as well now and completely part ways with BT altogether.
Cheers,
Tim

...I know that being with the TPS does not stop them from doing so as I actually am a customer of theirs. ...
Whilst some companies may claim that they already holding your details with the permission to make unsolicited marketing calls overides the TPS, you can simply tell them when they call that you no longer wish to receive such unsolicited marketing calls from them in future ... and they must abide by that instruction."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Call 0800 028 2272 to be removed from BT marketing lists.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
