Hey, pastures: we've already met him! He said it would only be a bob for a job. But we didn't like the look of his toggles. And who the hell is Bob anyway?0 -
You see, what you posh types don't grasp is that us poor types have never had/seen/eaten an oyster. So only a posh type could say they'd be equally happy with one or the other. For me, fish and chips.... never had an oyster but I've seen them on the telly and they look gross.lostinrates wrote: »I love that I'm so ''classy''. I never used that word pre internet.
I think I'm....flexible. As happy with oysters as fish 'n' chips.
But yseters have FAR fewer calories and edge into the lead on that basis.
edit: as for poor maybe instead of not as poor it makes more sense to thing of me as a bit tight? Different spending priorities? And childless!0 -

half a dozen oysters cost £3. That's cheaper than fish and chips round here. Its not ''posh'' that makes oysters edible or visable...it's only one's own boundaries/prejudices.0 -

Oysters may be visible but I'm dubious about the edible.
Give me fish and chips any day. If I want an aphrodisiac, there must be less horrid things with zinc in.0 -
So, not only have you eaten oysters, but can trot out their cost at the drop of a hat.... posh bird!lostinrates wrote: »half a dozen oysters cost £3.0 -
I just searched mysupermarket.co.uk and they don't even list oysters.0

You bet I can. We have them most fridays they are in season. Its the iodine for me with the hypothyroid, and the 10 cals per oyster. Not many meals that are 60 cals (infact I often only have 4, so 40 kcals) plus condiments yet totally satisfying! They are yummy..if ugly. and the zinc boost at the beginning of the weekend is good too.0 -
Oysters is one of the reasons I decided not to be rich. Being compelled to eat them after an equally compulsory day out hunting with hounds isn't my idea of fun. And then there's caviar, also obligatory if you've loadsamoney. Er, and a Porsche. I sat in one once and sustained a slipped disc.
So I decided that as being rich is voluntary, I'd rather not volunteer. The amount of money I've saved by not having to cover the costs of being made ill by oysters and caviar as well as hospitalisation from sitting in a Porsche has been so considerable I'm now more upper class than the upper classes anyway.0 -
