How do i contact m/s about xbox error code?

My sons 2 1/2 year old xbox 360 displayed the E74 error code last night, with the bottom right hand light on. Is there any way to contact m/s about getting it repaired, i can't do it online as he's at school and i don't know his windows live user name or his password. How long do repairs usually take, and do they refund the postage.

Any help would be much appreciated, as i really don't know what i'm doing

They'll email you a printable label, just package the xbox safely & attach the label... UPS will even collect it or you can drop it off at your nearest UPS depot. It doesn't cost you a penny

Don't worry if you can't do anything online. You can contact them by phone. Just have the serial number of the Xbox handy. (It's on the back of the console).
