Car Swap

I've been in touch with a guy who has the type of car I am after and I have the type he wants we are both in agreement of a straight swap. The thing is we are in differant ends of the country and have agreed to meet in the middle at a service station to look around each others cars/test drive ect and hopefully proceed with the swap. We both will HPi each others cars.

Obviously the situation is not ideal but to save either one of us a 7hr drive this is what we have come up with. With no cash involved either way is not too bad but the cars themselves are both worth around 10k.

What safegaurds can we both put in place apart from the hpi checks?

Oh and are there any Audi mechanics/teccy's or general mechanics in the scotch corner area? Fancy making a quick few £ on Tues???

Although I never had any replies to this topic I thought i'd share the outcome of this with you to stand as a warning to and potentual buyers of 2nd hand cars.

Lucky escape seems the car is all wrong on the hpi report yeah sure enough it's a A4 Avant but the V5 issue date doesn't tally up with the DVLA records.

I did 2 separate hpi's on it one said it had 5 previous owners and the other said none. One said it was on a private plate the other said it wasn't.

And I've a mate who has contacts at Audi's main UK service centre. He rang them this morning and the car's reg or VIN number are neither registered with them. Which they find hard to believe. Making the whole thing VERY suspicious.

Just goes to show you really need to do your homework when purchasing a car on the 2nd hand market.

The crapper about it is SOMEONE is gonna end up with that car

Still I'm back to square one now so....anyone wanna buy a BMW 330D???
