Hello,
i've already posted on the loans board but unfortunately no-one was able to offer any advice so thought i'd try here::D
OK here it is
1.. has anyone done course with computeach or home learning college?
2..My OH has been offerred a course by both to get the same qualification -
CCNP engineer, computeach are charging £5450 & home learning college £3900. He is edging to computeach because noone seems to have heard of the other one. However, we need to pay for it:eek: so computeach have offerred us a clydesdale bank loan, payment free for 12months and later pay back at 29.7% with a possibility of us refinancing ourselves after 11 months and no penalties, would we be better to get our loan just now which we cant really afford to pay just now or take the CB one and hope we can refinance in a years time when after lots of money saving and a new job (fingers crossed)we can hopefully afford to repay. i'm a bit worried about being able to refinance as our credit rating is not great.
Any advice greatfully accepted
thanks

try putting it on the Tech board as they may have advise as to how you can get the qualification completed for less?
Personal that loan sounds shocking and I wouldn't want to go near it. Also how useful is the qualification going to be in the job market? Does you OH have experience to go with it? If it's like the MSCE can he learn it himself and just sit the exams at a local exam centre? Borrow the books and then pay for the exams?
But in answer to your question, no I haven' done courses through either, but I did study for parts of my MSCE at home with books, before my career took me in another direction.

Is the course eligible for a career development loan? If so, you could sort out the loan now but payment is deferred until the course finishes. And the interest rate would be much lower than the criminal 29% they're offering you. Personally I would worry about the ethics of any educational provider who is offering something like that - they clearly just see students as a cash cow.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000
