HSBC World Selection Fund

Hi there,

The wife and I are looking to invest our stocks and share isa allowance of £5,100 each into the World Selection Balanced and Dynamic Funds.

I have read some views on these funds on this forum some time ago. However does anyone any advice on Comparable (if not better) fund of fund options. We both currently also invest in the Hargreaves Lansdown Multi Manger funds (balanced and growth)

Any advice or comments welcome

Will

Which aren't great and the same applies to the HSBC World selection.

ok. You already know that the funds are nothing special in their early history from earlier posts. So, lets focus on the last 3 months to bring you up to date.

The HSBC WS Balanced portfolio since launch has been in the bottom quartile. The last 3 months see it ranked 240/297.
The HSBC WS Dynamic portfolio is fairly slightly better but is still ranked 91/297 over months. An improvement from its 161/291 over 6 months and 214/277 over a year. However, there is nothing to suggest that the fund is consistently better or offers potential to be anything special.

These world selection portfolio funds seem to be following the same path as the other banks portfolio funds in that they are designed to be sold by low level sales staff who cant portfolio plan themselves to low level consumers who wouldnt understand portfolio planning anyway. The latter means that portfolio funds are often the better choice rather than a more complicated and advanced spread. However, not with the banks.

Stocks and Shares ISA allowance this tax year is £10200 each (minus any money paid in to a Cash ISA this tax year).
