If you are staying at the Blackfriar TLodge one then there's a good Indian over the road - East is East, otherwise you are straight onto Deansgate where there are dozens of restaurants, including Cafe rouge and Bella if you want to spend Tesco vouchers. Kro is nice on Piccadilly gardens, just the other end of Market St.

My fave is Dimitri's (for tapas) on Deansgate, about 10 min walk from the Travelodge I think :)

Not walking distance at all (miles out of town).

San Carlo is the best Italian in town (less than 5 mins from Travelodge) or Gaucho for steaks.

I was just about to suggest this, but book in advance!

Try Chaopaya for Chinese and Thai - cracking and good value
Try Picollino's for Italian also good value
Restaurant bar and grill for a good atmosphere and variety (my husband recommends the posh fish and chips)
Grill on the alley for top meat including the world famous kobi steak and burger - if you are having the steak take out a second mortgage though :-)
