Bank Charges - HSBC

Options
Hi everyone,

I had a claim in with HSBC for £1500 of bank charges, this was obviously on hold because of the test case. I received a letter in January saying my claim was unsuccesful so following this I wrote a letter explaining I was in hardship and would they reconsider my claim. I had a reply in March basically saying sorry no.

Is this the end of the line for me now or is there anything else I can do?

I think it is really unfair some people can reclaim and others can't although I do think it is great news for those that have been successful.

Has anyone else been in this position? If so what did you do or do I just have to admit defeat?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I realise you consider it unfair that you are excpected to pay for the service you have received, whilst others are being given their money back, but notwithstanding that, do you agree with the banks decision that you are not in financial hardship?

If not, you can make a ask the FOS to consider your claim. See the MSE article on reclaiming bank charges to discover how.

Why did you consider yourself to be in financial hardship? Why did you not ask them about this during the OFT test case hearings?

Some people are in genuine financial hardship so it is not about fairness or otherwise but about genuine financial difficulties which could lead to the loss of a home, the loss of their liberty or essential utilities.(hope that does not sound too harsh)

Unless you can prove financial hardship then see Premier's advice.
