Just like to Grizzle about cars now please

I am not on here for long this morning but I just wanted a grizzle for a minute.

OHs car was leaking water a month or so back so we took it to the garage & it needed a new head gasket & a few other things. Cost £1000. While they were at it they broke the LPG. Cant prove it but they said that if we got it fixed they would pay for it. Got it fixed at £443 & they refused to pay. LAst week on the way back from Cornwall oil light comes on & enghinbes starts makinga funny noise. Recovered back to home (£196). Take it to main dealer who say your engine is full of swarf probably caused by poor work when fitting new head gasket, engine has been starved of oil, new engine £2986.

Am thinking of buying a horse!

if i was you i would take the garage to court does'nt help now but if that was an insurance claim and your car is worth less than 12grand then your car would be a right off

I have made a complaint to the original garage head office (AA Service Centre - good for MOTs but nothing too techincal IMHO) following on from some trading standards advice. If they dont make a reasonable offer then I think then go to court. Looking on the bright side (is there one) the car will effectively be new (wont it ??) and LPG run cars are supposed to handle 200,000 miles, so it should do us for the next 20 years.

Dont understand? Why would the insurance not fix a £3K repair in favour of paying out £12K. WOuld they not take the cheapest option for them?

Nothing is covered by insurance - i havnt had an accident, just gone to a cr"p garage.
