I need a printer - help please!

Where can I get a good printer fairly cheaply!

Will need it for home business use, including stationary and general use. Doesn't need to be fancy, but should be reliable and good quality and take cartrges that are cheap and easy to get hold of.

Thanks!

  • Should have said, it needs to be colour! Can't afford several hundred pounds for a colour laser printer right now though!

    Brother DCP-117C.

Around £50, carts are cheap and it is a very good printer- scanner and copier all in one with direct photo printing from most memory cards .

I use an Epson R220 - it's a good printer and the compatibles can be really cheap.

    R220 at Amazon: £54.89 delivered: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000BD88S2/202-4274913-4269456?v=glance&n=560798&s=electronics&v=glance

    R220 compatibles £2.98 for 6: http://www.diskdepot.co.uk/acatalog/R200.html

sure I saw some colour lasers for around a couple of hundred quid, depending on your use they may pay for themselves in a short time

I know you said you couldn't spend sveral hundreds of pound on a colour laser but there are now several in the £150 - £200 range although I'm not sure as to quakity at that price level I'd have thought they would be as good as an inkjet anyway. We switched lastyear to a Black and White Laser as we never really needed colour printing and I would never go back to inkjet now. If we needed colour I'd definitely go Laser.

Know nothing about the printer but there is a Samsung colour Laser at PC World for £150

Canon Pixma - the compatibles are very cheap and the printers are outstanding. I have a IP4000 which is great - wouldn't change it for anything else. The current equivalent is the IP4200 which is £66.21 delivered (supersaver delivery) from ebuyer less any CC cashback and quidco cashback.

I like the hp PSC series, colour inkjet, scanner and photocopier in one unit (About £79 now i think). May not best best in price range for any of those functions, but certainly convenient and in my case trouble free. I would if possible look at the cheaper colour lasers though!

  • Anyone got more info on the Brother DCP-117C
If I print black&white, does that only use up the black ink cartridge?
How many black&white pages can I print before needing to change the ink cartridge?
Likewise how many pages will I get out of the colour cartridges?
Where's the cheapest place to get these ink cartridges?

    Cheers.
