Computer software to make logos/edit pgotos?

Is there such a thing for easy home use?

Want to have a go at making a logo and creating stationary. Also editing photos (resizing and removing background) and possibly making web banners etc.

Is that possible?

There are lots of programs out there that can do this. I use Paint Shop Pro. This does everything you've listed, and a lot more.

  • I've just looked up Paint Shop Pro X and I can't see anything about making web banners, logos or stationary. It seems to be mostly about editing photos for gifts etc.

On different computers, I use Paint Shop Pro 7, and Paint Shop Pro 8.

With both of these versions, I've designed banners, logos, website buttons, edited photos, and 3D text. You can create moving Gifs, logos, and basically any form of graphic that you would need, for photo editing, websites, or your own designed stationary.

They were taken over not so long ago by Corel. I've found that the later versions seem to have taken a step back rather than forwards. This is why I wouldn't upgrade to the latest version. Both 7, and 8 are very good.

Yeah, GIMP is about your best bet, the only real alternative to Photoshop out there (and its free too :D)

It's rather difficult to use though, especially if you are used to using Photoshop.
  • I just had a look at that GIMP site and don't even understand how to download it, let alone use it! How thick am I!

Download the first 2 items on that page and install them both.

Stick with it its worth the learning curve! Peronally I found all editing software hard work once they went to the 'layered' way of working - much more usefull I know but darned confusing at times!

Ahh yes, the transition between Photoshop 4.0 and 5.0.. LAYERS :D

Then came the History pallette in 7.0, mmmmmmmmm
  • I tried to download it but it said there was a critical error - so I gave up. I'm having no luck with anything right now!
