Coz you is a girlie and you want to be all sparkly on your special day0 -
Its all fairly simple. No need to get bogged down in it all unless you are a diamond dealer.
Colour - A = perfect. F-G-H = perfect to the naked eye.
Cut - what shape it is.
Clarity - How big the marks are in it. VS - Very Small VVS - Very Very Small
Carat - how big you want it! No need for giants. A half carat round diamond is still around 5mm across, huge really. (unless you want the kind of diamond that would sink you if you fell in the sea)
I'm no expert but from my months of sourcing my own diamonds for my rings, I dont believe there is an A colour, they start from D. The problem is lots of people are put off by the lower clarity and lower colour diamonds, after a lot of waffle from the London Jewellers I bought mine from the USA, I have a 0.60, Ideal cut, I1 inclusion, and an I colour (which normally in the high street stores would be spat at) and not one person including diamond dealers has managed to guess that is what it is, they ALL think G colour and an SI1 (untill they use their loupe), which if it was, it would have cost me double of what I paid  and it is very sparkly.
If you really want diamonds, try and see if you can get what you want made and source your own diamonds, it will probably work out cheaper, the guy that made my ring did it for a very reasonable price0 -

Ladies and Gents this concludes my rant, thank you very much for reading. Feel free to comment if you are going to agree with me. Please don't disagree with me cos I don't like it and it wouldn't fit in with the tone of my rant - I'd hate to throw my toys out of my pram in public.
*bows and exits*
I disagree

Diamonds are rare stones - it takes millions of years for the earth to produce one and the conditions have to be just right.
You may not be interested in cut or colour or even carat but there are people who are - the more perfect the diamond (ie no internal flaws) then the more valuable it is, the whiter the diamond the more valuable it is, most diamonds today are brilliant cut which makes them reflect the light more, older diamonds (antique jewellery) are rose cut so they don't have the brilliance of diamonds purchased today.
If you're not bothered about colour then why not pick industrial diamonds which are brown?0
