Hi,
Thanks for reading this post, I would be most grateful if anyone can recommend me a good driving school/instructor that would cover the Enfield area (North London). I've been told numerous horror stories about various driving school on how they rip you off by getting you to do more lessons than necessary. I have contacted AA and Red but I'm not entirely convinced that they are any good as they just seem to be interested in making a sale when you ask them questions about about the lessons and instructors.
Many thanks for your help

Just have to keep trying until you find one you are comfortable with. Some people say they are ripped off when in fact they are overconfident of their own abilities. some people are really ripped off. But the AA has a BOGOF offer through Quidco for your first lesson at the moment, so you could give that a go first, then see if you like the instructor. The same goes for any school or individual though, but remember the guy on the phone line is sales staff, so their whole purpose is to sell - at least the instructor's purpose is to teach you to drive.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

I personally would stay clear of the big companies and look at some little independant driving schools, some things to watch out for especially with the larger schools are what they call Piggy backing lessons, Which is where before your lesson ends you pick up the next pupil who then drives you home on ther lesson time. Also companies that say they can teach you to drive in X amount of hours, well thats rubbish everyone is individual and learn at different rates.
Also some of the large companies use trainee instructors rather than fully qulaified ones, so check out the colour of there badge that is displayed in the car, Pink one are trainees and Green ones are for qualifed instuctors.
Oh and lesson times are another one to watch, some companies only offer 55 min lessons, which in my opinion is useless, when you take into account the setting up of the vehicle before you move off, and then a debrief after you have finished, and also time taken during lessons to explain what you need to do.
And the most important one is to make sure you feel comfortable and at ease with your instructor, and if not then move on until you find one you are comfortable with, Always remeber you are the customer, they are offering you a service and you want the best for your money.
Hope some of this helps you.
Good Luck on finding an Instructor and with your lessons, it is a skill you are learning for life and well worth all the money and effort it takes.0 -
