It is not consumer law that you get a automatic 6yr warranty, i think you need to read up on consumer law its more complicated that you think with so many factors to take into consederation0 -

Agree with deanos: the 6 year warranty thing is a bit like the Loch Ness Monster, everyone is told it's there but no one has actually produced concrete proof that it actually exisits.
If you have a product that fails after 6 years and you can PROVE that the failure was due to a manufacturing/design fault you MIGHT get something - but don't hold your breath !
If you want a six year warranty you'll have to pay for it, and there aren't many that go that far; and even then, read the small print VERY carefully !0 -

Jennyuk, Check out item number 7615441129 on Ebay,follow his advice and then decide if it could apply to your dryer. It costs £1.00 for the fix sent to you by Email. I followed his advice and it works a treat.0
