I just wanted to update this thread to let people know that some organisations are looking for shoebox donations for Easter.
This one is Edinburgh-centred:

Lots of local Lions and Rotary groups seem to be doing this as well. If (like me) you didn't hear about these programs in time for Christmas, this is a nice second chance!0 -
we did one of these at christmas with Joel explained why and let him help choose what had gone in to it, same day Joel had been brought 2 hot wheels cars for being so good it still brings a lump to my throat thinking of this bit, before he went to bed we wrapped our shoe box and put the items we had brought inside Joel got one of his new cars and put it in the box so the little boy who recived it would have a car to playwithDFW nerd club number 039
